It’s been another busy year at 4-H Camp Palmer in FultonCounty. In early June, the camp began their 67th year of providing summer resident camp experiences for youth. So far in 2014, 920 campers have taken advantage of the wildlife, exploration and learning available at the rural site near Fayette.
The season began with over 120 youth attending the 25th science camp. That was followed by school groups attending, including over 200 each from Henry and FultonCounties. But others experiencing camp included children from Williams, Auglaize, and AllenCounties.
Summer is also a busy time at CampPalmer for band camps, 4-h groups, church and leadership retreats, and more
This past April, the CampPalmer board made it official, the original 1957 swimming pool would be replaced; with a new pool expected to open in the summer of 2015. A fund-raising effort is underway, which included a $54,000 bequest from the Helen Sell estate. That effort has been enhanced with a memorial brick program at the camp’s flagpole patio.
