It was a deadly weekend for travel in the BuckeyeState; but not quite like 2013. The Ohio Highway Patrol reports 13 persons lost their lives in traffic accidents in the Friday through Memorial Day holiday weekend. That’s compared with 18 fatalities a year ago. Troopers report 3 of the fatalities were alcohol-related. And of the traffic fatalities, 5 involved motorcycle riders that were not wearing helmets. One involved a pedestrian that was killed. The highway patrol also made 757 OVI arrests over the Memorial Day holiday weekend; and there was a 19% increase in safety belt citations.
