The Henry County Commissioners were happy to award the bid for a local bridge replacement project for two reasons, during their session today (Tues.)   #1, the contract will go to a local company in Vern Nagel, Inc.; and the cost of just over $279,000 was about $37,000 under the engineer’s estimate for the project.

Commissioners have approved a draw of just over $42,200 from the state development services agency to help with the rehab of a home in Grelton.

And the HenryCounty board approved a payment of over $89,000 for the first phase of the county’s resurfacing program to Gerken Asphalt Paving.

LEPC coordinator Nick Nye was informed, HenryCounty had received the highest grant award in the region for their planning in emergency response for hazardous material spills.  HenryCounty was awarded nearly $18,000.

And the response by local safety services and hazmat crews to the ammonia spill at Cloverleaf cold storage in Napoleon earlier this year, will count toward credit for exercise and response training.
