In a special meeting this (Wed.) morning, the Napoleon Area School Board of Education has approved new contracts with teachers, confidential staff and aides, along with the OAPSE (ope-see) union. The agreements were approved unanimously by the board, and provide for salary increases of 3% in the first year, 2.5% in the second year, and 2.5% in the third year. That salary scale will impact teachers and confidential staff; while the OAPSE employees received a 3% increase in their one-year salary re-opener. The new contract also gives the Napoleon school board more flexibility in changing the health care plan. Contracts were previously approved by all employee groups. The Napoleon area school board also nailed-down a new rate for substitute teachers during the meeting this (Wed.) morning, increasing daily pay from 75 to $85.
There’s still one group under discussion for salary changes, and that’s administrators and supervisors of departments. The Napoleon board went into executive session to discuss more negotiations; but no action was taken after that.
