There was plenty of facility-talk at the Monday meeting of the Liberty Center school board of education, as the new building project rolls on. Architects from Garmen-Miller presented proposals for the third bid package, which included playground equipment, the new bus garage, indoor furnishings, and technology. The bus garage building will likely be in the neighborhood of $730,000, and indoor furnishings will likely top $900,000 in cost. Another $120,000 has been budgeted for playground equipment, including two separate playgrounds by grade level. Liberty Center has decided to go with an upgrade in technology to utilize touch-screen devices.
The board walked-through the new building, and found in the east wing it is 98% complete above the ceiling grid, and plenty of work has been done below. The floor will be going-in next. In the west wing of the new LibertyCenter school, electrical wiring is underway, along with h-vac installation. And the roof is 50% complete. A final bid package will go-out this fall for demolition of the elementary and other areas of the complex. Also included will be renovations to the 1995 part of the facility.
The entire project is expected to be complete by August 2018. And Liberty Center will be adding a restroom complex at the football field, along with a new ticket booth.
