CHIMNEY PROJECT AT HC SHERFF'S OFFICE

A restoration project at the historic Henry County Sheriff’s office building is planned before the end of this year.  The chimney above the structure is in bad shape; but since the sheriff’s building is on the national register of historic places, any repairs have to include a look to the past.   The Napoleon Preservation Commission has approved a certificate of appropriateness for those repairs.  The plan is to dismantle the bricks and chimney, clean the sandstone, and reconstruct it the way it went-up in the 1880’s.

Rupp Rosebrock is managing the project, with an estimated cost of $14,000.  The work should take no more than 3 weeks to complete, depending on weather.  The problem is, good weather in November and December can be tough to come by.                The Wood County Inspection office is also involved in permitting for the project.
