A landmark from Deshler’s past will have a new home. Deshler Council approved the purchase of a parcel along South Park Street in the village, at a recent sheriff’s sale. The cost was $9,800, with the property adjacent to some village property. The proposal being considered is to move the town’s caboose that now resides at the swimming pool park, to a more visible location. Fans of the railroad and trains often visit the community to get a look at the engines rolling through Deshler.
