FEWER TRAFFIC FATALITIES IN OHIO OVER XMAS 2017

The Ohio State Highway Patrol recorded fewer traffic deaths in 2017 over the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weekends.  There were five fatalities over Christmas weekend, down from 14 in 2016.   And the New Year’s holiday weekend produced 3 traffic fatalities this year, compared with 6 the year before.    The highway patrol also made 580 arrests for impaired drivers over the holiday weekends.

And in Fulton County, troopers made a traffic stop on the Ohio Turnpike, seizing 70 pounds of marijuana on New Year’s Eve.  A canine from the Wauseon Police Department alerted to the vehicle after a stop for a speeding violation.  25 year old Joseph Evans of Chula Vista, California was charged with Possession of Marijuana.
