NAPOLEON LOOKING TO REDUCE RATES BY PAYING DEBT

The city of Napoleon has been looking at ways to reduce electric rates; and may have an idea for a small impact.  Staff has recommended that Napoleon pay-off the debt they owe for the solar field project, constructed behind the yard waste site on Oakwood Avenue.  That would require a payment of 1.9 million dollars, which Napoleon seems to have in their electric account.  It’s estimated, paying off that solar field project might lower electric rates for customers by about 1.5%.

And there was dialogue at Napoleon Council Monday regarding the potential for moving state route 108 onto the Scott Street alignment.   But Council has decided to wait until after the second bridge over the Maumee River is built in Napoleon, to determine if the move will be needed.  Another factor is more grant dollars may be available for the re-alignment, down the line.
