A car-train collision was investigated over the weekend in Defiance County. The highway patrol reports the crash occurred Friday morning at 9:25am on Hire Road at the CSX crossing in Richland Township. 76 year old Lewis Belcher of Paulding was southbound, and drove around the lowered crossing gates. Hit pickup was struck by a westbound train. Lewis Belcher was pronounced dead at the scene, and his passenger 33 year old Donna Fay Ramos of Defiance sustained serious injuries. Ramos was transported by air ambulance to St. Vincent Medical Center in Toledo.
