NW STATE COMMUNITY COLLEGE TO ADD AGRIC. PROGRAM

A major aspect of life in this region is still tied to agriculture, whether its actual farming of the ground, or working in a related ag-business.  Northwest State Community College is hoping to introduce more of an agriculture related curriculum through associate degree and short-term certificate programs.                           Dean of the allied health, business and public services sector at the campus, Janet Delcamp; intends to expand those programs, and has hired a director to oversee development in this area.  Michael Leonard will be department chair of agricultural studies.

Leonard has extensive experience in professional and technical education program development, and helped develop a comprehensive farm plan for the new Appalachian Farmstead Learning Center.
