Finding new water options can be a costly proposition, Liberty Center is finding out. The community is part of some suburban Toledo communities still looking to test the water quantity in the Michindoh aquifer near Fayette. The cost to participate is $35,000, yet much larger cities like Perrysburg and Sylvania are paying the same amount. A report on the viability of the Michindoh aquifer should be known by the end of this month.
Liberty Center Council approved the bid of Bryan Excavating to tackle the Maple Street drainage problem, with a price tag of close to $200,000. Part of that cost requires boring under the railroad to extend the drainage. Work should get underway soon, with a completion required by the end of this year. Council also found-out there are more drainage problems off East Maple Street in Liberty Center that needs to be addressed.
And the village is providing a concession building for the parks; but are looking for groups interested in running the program as a fund-raiser. The structure will be built by the Liberty Center school FFA.
