BIDS TO BE OPENED FOR DEFIANCE CLINTON ST. BRIDGE

This week at Defiance Council, the board approved committing funds to monitor the sanitary sewer system.   Over $60,000 will be set aside to help alert the department if issues arise.                And today, ODOT will be opening bids for the replacement of the Clinton Street bridge in downtown  Defiance.  Construction will get underway next year; but at this week’s meeting, the Defiance Police and Fire Chiefs reported they are ready to provide services on both sides of the Maumee River, when that bridge is under construction.    Defiance paid over $450,000 toward their share of the project earlier this year.

And there was dialogue at this week’s Defiance Council session about establishing an outdoor refreshment area, where certain beverages could be consumed outdoors in the downtown.   The move is supported by the downtown development bureau and some downtown retail stores.
