MAY ELECTION COMING SOON, BUT NO CANDIDATES ON BALLOT IN HENRY COUNTY

The May special election in Ohio is approaching soon, and local boards of election are gearing-up. There are no candidate races in Henry County in the early election, since there are 4 openings for Napoleon City Council, and four candidates have filed. Three incumbents have filed to run for Napoleon City Council, and are all republicans: Joe Bialorucki, Lori Siclair, and Ken Haase. Jeff Comadall is not running for re-election in 2021.But there is a candidate running for that position, Republican David Cordes. So all four candidates will advance to the November election, and we’ll wait and see if any write-in candidates surface for that election. There will only be one local issue on the ballot in Henry County, and that’s the Archbold Area Schools renewal levy for emergency requirements of the district. It’s a 4.13 mill renewal levy for a five year period. So in Henry County, there will only be one polling location for that issue- the Ridgeville Legion. There will also be voting in Fulton County for the Archbold school levy. And there is a new deputy director for the Board of Elections in Henry County, as Cindy Shroyer has taken over that position. Mary Detmer remains director for the Henry County Board of Elections.

Coming up in November, a number of local positions will be on the ballot, including township trustee, school board seats, and village offices.
