FOUR COUNTY ADAMhs BOARD SEEKING RENEWAL FOR LEVY THIS NOVEMBER

The Four County Board of Alcohol, Drug Addiction and Mental Health Services has approved a resolution that will lead to placement of a seven-tenths mill renewal levy on the ballot in November of this year. The action took place at their meeting on Thursday. The funding from this levy represents about 65% of the budget for Adams board services throughout the year, including mental health, addiction, family violence treatment, and prevention services.

This levy would be on the ballot in Defiance, Henry, Fulton and Williams Counties, where residents have approved the issue each five years, for a period of almost 40 years.

The Four County Adams Board also received a grant of $75,000 in a pilot program to provide intervention assistance for schools that serve high risk students with mental health, addiction and other behavioral issues.

And the Independence Education Center, which serves between 70 and 80 students in grades kindergarten through high school, will work with researchers from Miami University of Ohio to develop a job description for a school navigator. This person would help school staff and families link with existing community services to address their behavioral issues.
