WATERLINE PROJECT TO LIBERTY CENTER AND MCCLURE AWARDED-NW WATER DISTRICT

A waterline project that would bring water from Wood County to the communities of Liberty Center and McClure is one step closer to reality. The board of trustees for the Northwestern Water and Sewer District today (Thur.) approved the bid of Hillabrand and Sons Construction, LLC of Woodville to build that waterline. The price-tag is 4.2 million dollars, with construction to get underway in the spring of 2022, and wrap-up by early 2023.The project entails construction of a pipeline from the village of Weston, heading west to McClure, then travelling north along state route 65, where the waterline will cross the Maumee River, and then head westbound to the village of Liberty Center. This will include 8 miles of new waterline, and relocation of a pump-station outside of Liberty Center. The original water source will remain the Maumee River; but instead of receiving water from Napoleon, McClure and Liberty Center’s new source will be Bowling Green, then to Weston, and on to Henry County. The overall estimated cost for the project is 5.3 to 5.8 million dollars. Funding will be utilized through a nearly 5 million dollar loan from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and another loan of $801,000 from the Ohio Water Development Authority. Liberty Center’s share of the cost of the new waterline project will be 62% of the total expense. In the spring of this year, Liberty Center signed a 40-year contract with the Northwestern District, to supply water to their village.
